Spring had sprung here in NZ.
I’m patiently waiting for my energy levels to rise, and am battling with some personal things that have been taking me away from my writing, but aside from that, it’s nice to have some warmer parts of the day.
In writing news, I’m trying to get my head around Secrets of the Soul, and have been playing catch up on my out of control TBR pile.
I’ve finished updating the website, so feel free to browse while you’re here, and I’ve made some tweaks to the blog. In lieu of the What’s New In MM Romance section I typically have at the end of the blog, I thought I’d share my 5-star reads for the week instead.
I’m constantly tweaking and changing things to make better use of my time and to keep things interesting for you, so I hope you enjoy this week’s guest, and learn something new.

April’s Quirky Questions
Holly: What’s your drink of choice?
April: Coffee. I’m a huge fan.
Holly: What will I always find in your fridge?
April: Nonfat vanilla yogurt and jars of overnight oats.
Holly: If you could be any animal what would it be and why?
April: A sloth. Taking my time is very beneficial but something I don’t always do.
Holly: What is the most meaningful thing a reader has said to you?
April: I had a reader say they read my books (Specifically, the Pickleville series) whenever they needed an escape from the world.
Holly: Where do you like to write?
April: I do most of my writing from my comfy chair in the living room. Sometimes I’ll move to my office if the scene I’m writing requires a certain level of attention. Pre-pandemic I used to write in cafes but I’ve gotten out of the habit since. I’d like to go back to them at some point.
Holly: How many books have you written, and which is your favorite?
April: I’ve written 61 books. 15 of those aren’t currently published. I love all my books but I think my favorites are those in the Saint Lakes and Wingspan series. I love the adventure aspect in those books and the world. I’d like to continue writing in that universe. I’m currently developing two other series that will be spin-offs of sorts.
Holly: Which scene in this book was the most fun to write?
April: There’s a scene where Easton visits the Dragon Skulls biker club for the first time. He and Jarrell, his brother, get into a sibling spat. It was a cute scene to write because Easton and Jarrell had been separated for a long time, but it was as if no time had passed at all.
Holly: What would you and your MCs talk about if you went out for coffee?
April: I can’t imagine having a conversation with Gavin in which his alpha-ness didn’t intimidate me, so with him I’d probably be nervous. But Easton and I would probably talk about his latest scientific research and then he’d probably be interested in what I’m writing next and my thought process as to why I’m writing it. He’d have a million questions.
The Alpha’s Scientist
Blurb:
A scientist in trouble. An alpha rebuilding his clan’s trust. When the enemy is your fated mate, love gets very complicated.
Easton Piernos has escape on his mind. Forced to experiment on unwilling victims, he needs to find the only person he can trust—his brother. His search leads him to a small town filled with very large, green-eyed monsters. The biggest one of them calls Easton the enemy…and his mate.
The alpha has a lot to prove. When Gavin Drolac meets Easton for the first time, he pegs him as an enemy, but Gavin has an instinct to protect the little human. Who will Gavin have to fight this time? The clan or some sort of external force?
For Easton, the enemy of his enemy might just be the only one who can free him from his captors for good. To do that, he has to win the trust of the alpha.
The Alpha’s Scientist is the final book in the MM Paranormal Romance Wingspan series. If you like cute human fated mates and a dragon shifter alpha, you’ll love this enemies-to-lovers novel.
Excerpt:
The roar of an engine cut through the night. The bugs and frogs stopped their chatter.
Easton stiffened and unfolded himself. He moved around the backside of the tree when the roar quieted and then stopped.
A man on a motorcycle parked next to the lake. Even in the dark, Easton could make out his massive size. He was tall and broad.
Easton wished it wasn’t dark. He would have liked to have seen the man’s face.
Easton moved closer, intrigued. He felt like a voyeur, especially when the man took off his jacket.
Easton sucked in a breath when the guy pulled his shirt over his head. Easton moved around the tree when the man turned toward him.
Oh my god. The man was a work of art. With the moon shining on him, he appeared as if he’d been sent by a higher power. So strong and sculpted.
Easton wanted to be in the man’s space. He wanted to see more of him and find out what his skin smelled like. It was a feeling he couldn’t explain.
But he’d have to think about his weird response later because, holy crap, there went the pants.
