Harper Jewel: I have too many to mention, but my must-buy list contains anything written by Lee Colgin and Gigi Rivers.

Holly: If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?

Harper Jewel: A Peregrine Falcon

I’m an avid birder, and the falcon is my favorite bird-of-prey. I’ve been on a hunt with a falconer. Despite watching these magnificent birds in action, it was a bit difficult to watch them grab little chipmunks, mice, and squirrels, etc. and eat them. It’s why I write about bird-of-prey shifters, but mine don’t hunt little critters.

Holly: What did you plan on being when you grew up?

Harper Jewel: A veterinarian. But I would have had a hard time putting any animal to sleep. The visions would haunt me for the rest of my life.

Holly: Tell me something hardly anyone knows about you.

Harper Jewel: I have double-jointed thumbs. I can bend them far enough that the pad of the finger is parallel to the ground.

Holly: Tell me about a unique or quirky habit of yours.

Harper Jewel: I nuke my cats’ wet food to get it warm before feeding it to them. Yes, I’m the crazy cat lady. LOL

Holly: What is the most meaningful thing a reader has said to you?

Harper Jewel: I love the way you start your books. The dialogue pulls me in immediately. Your settings are so imaginative.

Holly: What tools do you feel are must-haves for writers?

Harper Jewel: Pro Writing Aid is fantastic. I use it before I begin edits.

Holly: Let’s talk to your characters for a minute – what’s it like to work for such a demanding writer?

Harper Jewel: She doesn’t always follow our ideas. But most of the time, she’s a good listener.

Holly: How many books have you written, and which is your favorite?

Harper Jewel: To date, I’ve written 14 books. Two are out of print anthologies. Five are M/F or MMF. Seven are M/M or M/M/M. My genres include paranormal, aliens, other worlds, lite BDSM and contemporary. My favorite is Mirror of Obsession. The connection between the main characters (Devin, Matthew, & Brice) was fun to write.

“You picked the wrong guy, Devin… again.” The deep baritone came from behind him, and he whipped around with an angry hiss.

“I’m not in the mood to play games, Brice, so just leave me the hell alone.”

“Not gonna happen, Dev. I feel your pain through the mirror.”

Staring at the handsome, mouthwatering vision that stood in the full-length mirror propped beside the oak dresser, Devin just shook his head. “You’re just a figment of my overactive imagination. I dreamed you up ten years ago when I came home from school after being bullied and tormented because I got caught ogling the star quarterback in the locker room. The incident only solidified what I already knew—girls didn’t interest me, but hot, sweaty boys ramped up my libido something fierce. In my distress, I somehow dreamed you up, and you appeared in the mirror seconds later. Since then, every time I find myself alone without a boyfriend, you pop right back into the mirror.
