Secrets of the Soul is finished and with the editor. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this book, Kane and Kevin took me on such a journey and I know they’ll take you on one too. I am counting the days. Have you preordered yours yet?
Feel free to check it out at the bottom of the blog, but for now let’s chat with this week’s guest Stella Rainbow.
Author Bio
Stella Rainbow lives in a small town in India with her family and her five-year-old cat, Harry, who is her number one supporter, cuddle buddy, and writing buddy all rolled into one.
Living with a chronic illness, Stella grew up with books as her best friends, and now she writes in the hopes of giving others like her a reprieve from the real world.
Stella’s books are low on the angst, high on the sweetness, with a doze of found family, and some absolutely adorable fur—and sometimes scale—babies.
Stella’s Quirky Questions
Holly: If you could be an animal for a day what would it be and why?
Stella: If it’s just for a day, a hawk or maybe an eagle. I’d love to fly and see some of the world from up above.
Holly: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
Stella: Teleportation. There are so many places I’d like to visit but can’t because of health issues. Teleportation would really help with that.
Holly: Does writing exhaust you or energize you?
Stella: Getting new ideas and having characters in my head energizes me, but the actual act of typing them into a story can get exhausting on some days.
Holly: What’s your favorite underappreciated novel, yours, or someone else’s.
Stella: Mine: Weathering The Storm. It was the first m/m romance I wrote, and one of my few contemporary titles. It’s very close to my heart.
Holly: What’s your writing process like?
Stella: I don’t outline or plan my stories out in advance. I just let the characters live in my head for a while, and then get to writing. I try to write every day if I’m able to.
Holly: What’s your most annoying habit?
Stella: Probably wouldn’t call it a habit, but I’m very impulsive, which isn’t helpful when you-re a one-woman-show trying to run your own business.
Holly: What’s on top of your fridge?
Stella: My medicines. 😅
Holly: What’s your favorite thing to do to relax?
Stella: Read. Currently, I’m obsessed with reading manga.
Holly: Explain your book terribly in a few words. (For example two men meet and hate each other, until they don’t)
Stella: Two men meet and decide to go on a food-tasting trip, except they eat humans.
Holly: Where did your inspiration come from for your MCs?
Stella: It’s different for every book, but most of the time it’s either a meme or Tumblr post, or another character I see in some show/book that I think would’ve been better with different traits, so I recreate them the way I would’ve liked them to be.
Salvation
(An Innocent Monsters Story)
Blurb:
A wendigo afraid of hurting people. A vampire who revels in his bloodlust.
Dell
Nothing was worse than getting turned into a monster by the one person who was never supposed to harm you. I couldn’t remember a time when I hadn’t been a monster, and I’d given up hope of ever being anything else.
Then Valerio showed up, and he told me things could be different. That he knew what real monsters looked like, and I could help him hunt them down.
Valerio
I’d never met a monster who was less monster-like than Dell. So what if he needed to eat human flesh to survive? I could offer him a five-course meal and clean the world of some filth in one go.
I was determined to show him how different he was from true monsters, if only so he’d stop starving himself. He was kind and innocent, the complete opposite of what monsters were.
Salvation is an MM monster x supernatural romance featuring a wendigo who hates what he is until his mate shows him otherwise, a vampire who revels in his bloodlust, and a romance that is slow to spark, but blazing once it’s lit.
Excerpt
When he changed forms again, I was sure he’d have some choice words for me, but I’d deal with them, and I’d probably come back for more because I was an idiot like that. There was just something about Dell, that spark of innocence, that wish to be good, that intrigued me. I wanted to see if I could make him do the things he considered bad, if I could make him accept this other part of him. He had potential to be a great partner in my quest to get rid of some of the more evil humans living in this world. In today’s modern world, it was getting harder and harder to dispose of bodies without arousing suspicion. What better way than to partner with someone who could eat them? No body, no crime, right?
