It’s a new week, and things are finally starting to look up in my world. Now I’m further out the other side, it’s easier to admit I’ve been in a bit of a hole lately, and even though, from an outside perspective, I’ve still been productive, no one sees the additional effort required to keep things ticking over when life gets us down.

I’m hoping the upward trend continues next week and am excited to see what I can do next.

But enough about me, you’re here to meet Ray Celar!

Author Bio

Ray Celar lives with her husband, daughter and two cats in Southern Germany.
When she was six years old, she proudly declared she’d be an author one day, and that dream never changed. She was declared “most likely to ever publish a book” in her yearbook and only four years after her graduation, this statement and her lifelong dream came true — though she still isn’t sure whether she should send a copy of her books to the teacher who nominated her for that title.
If she isn’t chasing after her daughter through the apartment, she’s probably translating books, writing books or procrastinating doing any of those things by watching too many DIY-videos online — she might even be working on one of the DIY-projects she picked up.

Ray’s Quirky Questions

Holly: If you could be an animal for a day what would it be and why?

Ray Celar: I’d want to be a wolf. This is like super cliché, but I was 14 when Twilight got big… do I really have to say more? I’ve been a fan of shifters and shifter romances ever since. Also, I love hiking and taking long walks in nature, so… running through the forest for a whole day and experiencing it in a completely new way sounds really good to me. And… research. I mean… hello? Once in a lifetime opportunity to write the most realistic shifter romances.

Holly: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

Ray Celar: Okay, hear me out… I want my body to be able to make poison/venom. But not like “oh, okay, I’m poisonous”, but like “Oh, this venomous snake just bit me but now my body is able to make that venom on its own and I could potentially kill people by scratching them.” I know this sounds really weird, but I used to write RPGs with other people and I came up with that ability for a character of mine and I had an absolute blast looking up poisonous plants and animals and stuff.

Also… different kinds of poison/venom are needed for medicine, so it’s not like I could only kill people… I could also do something good with that ability.

Holly: Does writing exhaust you or energize you?

Ray Celar: Both. I often feel energized after writing, but there are certain scenes that are really emotionally taxing and draining. Considering I’m often writing hurt/comfort there are often draining scenes.

Holly: What one book have you written that you think best shows off your writing style? Why?

Ray Celar: I don’t have that many books out yet, but I think “Show Me How to Trust” shows what I love writing about as well as my writing style the most. I love writing people, I love looking inside people’s heads, I love to explore my characters’ thoughts and psyche, and… yeah. I love diving deep into my characters’ souls and baring it on page – and I think I managed to do that in a very realistic way in “Show Me How to Trust”.

Holly: What comes first for you, plot, or characters?

Ray Celar: It can be both. My ideas can come very suddenly. Sometimes I just suddenly see a character in front of me and just know I want to write his story. Sometimes there’s a scene stuck in my head and I’m like “What led to that scene and what comes afterwards”. It really depends on the book.

Holly: What’s your most annoying habit?

Ray Celar: I am notoriously bad at deciding on something or choosing something or – god forbid – choosing just one thing.

Holly: What’s your favorite thing to do to relax yourself?

Ray Celar: You can laugh at me but working out on my spinning bike. I recently started regularly working out and I love cycling until I’m absolutely drenched in sweat and exhausted. Gives me such a kick. Also – see the “most annoying habit above” – I can’t decide on one thing, reading, too.

Holly: Explain your book terribly in a few words. (For example two men meet and hate each other, until they don’t)

Ray Celar: One person buys the other one from his friends. He doesn’t know he’s being sold. The “slave” hates his new “owner” but they fall in love regardless.

Holly: Where did your inspiration come from for your MCs?

Ray Celar: Sunshine…. And cold, uninviting weather. Just… don’t ask.

My Grumpy Sweetheart

Blurb:

A scientist in trouble. An alpha rebuilding his clan’s trust. When the enemy is your fated mate, love gets very complicated.

Easton Piernos has escape on his mind. Forced to experiment on unwilling victims, he needs to find the only person he can trust—his brother. His search leads him to a small town filled with very large, green-eyed monsters. The biggest one of them calls Easton the enemy…and his mate.

The alpha has a lot to prove. When Gavin Drolac meets Easton for the first time, he pegs him as an enemy, but Gavin has an instinct to protect the little human. Who will Gavin have to fight this time? The clan or some sort of external force?

For Easton, the enemy of his enemy might just be the only one who can free him from his captors for good. To do that, he has to win the trust of the alpha.

The Alpha’s Scientist is the final book in the MM Paranormal Romance Wingspan series. If you like cute human fated mates and a dragon shifter alpha, you’ll love this enemies-to-lovers novel.
